Wow! 40 grades 1 and 2 children, 2 teachers and 1 library employee!!
Had a great time - showed the children around the library, answered some questions then set them free to roam - may not have been my smartest move. Took me an hour after they left to clean up the books!
Read 2 books - How Robin Saved Spring by Debbie Ouellet, a charming tale about how the creatures of the forest tried to wake up Sister Spring after Lady Winter put her to sleep - shows why bear hibernates, how skunk got his stripe and how Robin got his red breast. I also read/sang The Twelve Days of Spring Time which is a rollicking story/song in the tune of The Twelve Days of Christmas. It was particularly appropriate as the book is about a classroom and how they discover spring. The kids all sang along with me!
I sent them on their way with some registration sheets, colouring sheets and a spring crossword puzzle.
This was the grade 2 second annual visit to the library.
